Although originally developed by Philips for dictation machines, the cassette tape was one of the first technologies that allowed us to easily share music with each other. That was 1962, fast forward around 17 years and the first Sony Walkman hits the streets and we're taking our music with us pretty much everywhere. Public transit and long family road trips were instantly more enjoyable and, of course, riding your bike with a Walkman hanging off your belt was about the coolest thing.
